| WEIGHT QUESTIONS |
| When entering the weight of your shipment remember to
add the weight of the item you’re shipping with the weight of the pallet, box,
crate, etc. When you are in doubt always guess on the higher side. If the
weight is entered too low, the carrier will re-weigh the item and you will be
charged a re-weigh fee as well as any difference in the shipping price at the
new weight. |
| TIPS WITH RESIDENTIAL AND LIFT GATE DELIVERIES |
|
When available, try and stay away from any accessorial charges such
as residential delivery, or lift gate service. Try to find a business in the
area that has a loading dock that you can have your shipment delivered to or
plan to pick your freight up at the local service center. This can save you
unnecessary charges from the selected carrier.
|
| INSIDE PICK UP/ DELIVERY |
| The inside pick-up and inside delivery consist of the
driver bringing the shipment “inside” the building at the origin or destination
location. This option is mainly for convenience and different carriers charge
different amounts for this service. These charges can be found by selecting the
View Details link under Surcharges when the pricing is displayed for each
carrier. Tip: We suggest having plenty of help when the time comes to move your
shipment from the truck into your facility or from your facility to the truck.
This option should only be selected if the shipment is located inside a
facility, and you have no other way to move it out for the carrier; or, if the
shipment is delivered and the recipient has no other way to move the item into
their building. |
| SPECIAL LOCATIONS: AIRPORT, CONSTRUCTION SITE,
CONVENTION CENTER, AND PIERS |
| When selecting this option, please make sure to pay
attention to the charges from each carrier (by clicking on the View Details
option under the Surcharges column), because they are different depending on
which carrier you select. If at all possible, have your freight delivered to a
location where these charges would not apply (Ex. a near by business with a
loading dock) and move you freight separately to where it is needed. |
| PACKAGING YOUR FREIGHT |
| Always package the item you are shipping in a way that
is as secure as possible. This will protect against any damage that might occur
during transit from the item shifting around while it is being moved. The claim
process with a carrier can become difficult without proper packaging of
freight. For questions please call us. 888-705-6990. For items weighing over
100 pounds, secure the item to a pallet using cardboard or wood for protection
on all sides. Finish the packaging with shrink-wrap to ensure to safe delivery
of your freight. |
